Chelmsford Anti-Social Behaviour
Anti-Social behaviour in Chelmsford is an increasing issue. 16,800 crimes relating to anti-social behaviour were committed between March 2017 to February 2018 and the summer has seen the council receive a high number of complaints about antisocial behaviour.
Examples of anti-social behaviour include excessive noise, drunk and disorderly, harassment and graffiti, vandalism and environmental offences. In particular, Chelmsford is experiencing excessive begging and soliciting money. This can be done in threatening ways by people approaching lone pedestrians at night and using abusive language.
Although anti-social behaviour doesn’t necessarily equate to serious crime it is suggested that anti-social behaviour is a forerunner for more serious crime. It is therefore a priority that every effort is made to reduce the number of anti-social behaviour incidents.
