Student Community Action Volunteering Roles

This opportunity is ongoing, with no end date.

Student Community Action engages students in community volunteering, providing vulnerable members of the community with social, practical and educational support. They offer a multitude of volunteering opportunities. Several of these projects are managed by Student Community Action and known as “internal projects” which are catered ideally to the interests of Cambridge-based students.

Currently Active Volunteering Roles:

  • Big Sibling- Volunteers act as an “adopted” older brother or sister to a child, visiting the child about once a week. Please note that this role is currently being done virtually.

  • Homework Helper- The aim is to help children from mainstream schools who are having difficulty with their academic work. Please note that this role is currently being done virtually.

  • Taskforce- Students volunteer with a range of clients in the community. They might keep a lonely, elderly person company with a cup of tea and a chat or spend time with an adult who has a disability which has limited their social interaction. Student Community Action have a huge range of clients who are referred to them and would benefit from a student volunteer who can give 1 hour a week. Please note that this role is currently being done virtually.
