Criminology & Policing - Cambridge

What is the Criminology and Policing Society

The Criminology and Policing Society is a dynamic society where students passionate about law enforcement, criminology, and justice are able to learn more about both the industry and field. As a member, you’ll gain access to exclusive events, expert speakers, networking opportunities, and hands-on workshops that are intended to give hands-on experience and are designed to broaden our general knowledge of this broad field. Whether you're an undergraduate or a postgraduate student, we aim to break the fear of asking questions of students and make students engage more in a way that is still within the subject but without the lecture side, which could potentially benefit all students and lecturers. This society also offers a platform to deepen your knowledge, discuss contemporary issues, and connect with like-minded peers."

What is the purpose of the Criminology and Policing Society

The purpose of the Criminology and Policing society is to increase the opportunities for students that want to get involved in Criminology and Policing, by using actual bodies of authority within Cambridge which either involve lectures or actual police. This can bring students to have a closer learning journey with lectures and break the fear of asking questions.

Objectives of Society

  • We aim to give opportunities to students by collaborating with the department of criminology and policing which could potentially give news or volunteering opportunities

  • We aim to break the fear of asking questions from students and make students engage more in a way that is still within the subject but without the lecture side, which could potentially benefit all students and lecturers.

  • We aim to get actual Police officers or Guest speakers outside of ARU (Anglia Ruskin University) so they might bring a different a unique perspective outside of the academics.

  • We aim to make networking easier for those who do not have the skills to do so, or at least start in a basic level
