Welcome to the ARU Indian Society 2024-2025!

The Indian Society at ARU Cambridge is a dynamic and inclusive student organisation that brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds to celebrate and explore the rich cultural heritage of India. Our society is open to all students, whether you have Indian roots or are simply interested in experiencing the vibrant traditions, customs, and festivities of India.

Our mission is to create a welcoming space where students can connect, share, and learn about Indian culture, while also fostering a sense of belonging and community. We aim to promote cultural diversity on campus, raise awareness about Indian traditions and values, and encourage cross-cultural understanding through our various initiatives.

What We Do

Cultural Celebrations: Throughout the academic year, we host a range of cultural events that showcase the colorful and diverse traditions of India. From Diwali, the festival of lights, to Holi, the festival of colors, our celebrations are filled with music, dance, food, and joyous festivities that bring the campus to life.

Performing Arts: We are proud to support a variety of performing arts groups that focus on traditional Indian dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Bollywood dance, as well as classical and contemporary Indian music. Our members often participate in university-wide cultural showcases, representing Indian culture with pride and passion.

Social and Networking Events: Building a strong sense of community is at the heart of our society. We host regular social events, such as mixers, movie nights, and game nights, to encourage members to connect, network, and build lasting friendships. We also collaborate with other student organisations to host joint events, fostering unity and camaraderie across the campus.

Academic and Professional Development: Recognising the importance of academic and career growth, we organise networking opportunities and tie up with organisations for job fairs. These events provide valuable insights from industry experts, alumni, and successful professionals of Indian descent, helping our members navigate their academic journeys and career paths with confidence.
