Volunteer at the Muscular Dystrophy 10k run!

The Newton Cambridge Town and Gown 10k is back for its 8th year on Sunday 20th October. The event is a closed road, chip timed scenic 10k run and is a race that attracts over 2000 professional athletes and fancy dress fun runners all creating a wonderful atmosphere throughout the city.

The route takes runners into the heart of Cambridge, passing many historic University College buildings, through the city centre and into stunning Jesus Green and along the River Cam.

What is Muscular Dystrophy?

Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for the 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. We bring together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions, affecting just over one in every 1,000 people.

How can I help?

Our ARU Student Volunteers at the Muscular Dystrophy 10k runs in previous years.

An event like this cannot run without the support of volunteers. If you would like to help raise awareness and vital funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK, whilst getting to see Cambridge and feeling the spirit of the Cambridge community, come and volunteer alongside your fellow ARU students! The event is based at Midsummer Common, only a 10 minute walk from the Cambridge Campus.

Volunteers are required to carry out a variety of tasks during the day which can include water station marshal, baggage tent coordinator, goody bag distributor, information tent administrator, start and finish line marshals and route marshals.
