The origins of haematology malignancies

This event is the second installment in our comprehensive two-part haematology teaching series. In this particular lecture, we will delve into the vast and complex field of haematological malignancies. Given the breadth of this subject, our focus will be on three major areas: non-Hodgkin lymphoma, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and paraproteinemias.

Areas Covered
1. Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma : We'll explore the different subtypes, their pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, and current treatment strategies. This will include an examination of the latest research and developments in the field.
2.  Myeloproliferative Neoplasms: Here, we'll discuss the various types of myeloproliferative disorders, their clinical features, genetic mutations, and therapeutic approaches. Special attention will be given to chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and polycythemia vera.
3. Paraproteinemias : This segment will cover conditions such as multiple myeloma and Waldenström's macroglobulinemia, focusing on their pathogenesis, diagnostic markers, and relevant treatment strategies

By concentrating on these specific areas, we aim to provide medical students with a robust understanding of the different subclasses of haematological malignancies. Our goal is not only to impart knowledge but also to build a dynamic and structured framework that will help students confidently approach this daunting subject. This lecture will be both informative and engaging, designed to stimulate curiosity and encourage deeper exploration into the fascinating world of haematology.
