International Nurses Day - Tea and Cakes

Happy International Nurse Day! You're invited to a tea and cake session to celebrate and raise awareness about the nursing profession.

Can't attend due to placement? Come to SU desk for a little treat :)

International Nurses Day, celebrated on May 12th each year, honors the invaluable contributions of nurses to healthcare systems around the world. The date marks the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, who revolutionized healthcare with her dedication to hygiene, patient care, and nursing education.

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) – which organises IND celebrations – this week revealed that the 2025 theme will be: “Caring for nurses strengthens economies”.

It marks the continuation of the overarching multi-year theme of “Our Nurses, Our Future”, which aims to raise the profile of nursing and show how important the profession is for health systems.

On this day, we acknowledge the hard work, compassion, and expertise of nurses who provide essential care in hospitals, clinics, communities, and homes. Nurses play a critical role in improving patient outcomes, offering emotional support, and ensuring that healthcare services are delivered with professionalism and empathy.
