MANIFESTO FOR WELFARE AND LIBERATION OFFICER

VIJAY KIRAN PULI

CANDIDATE FOR WELFARE AND LIBERATION OFFICER, ANGLIA RUSKIN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ UNION

I am a Welfare & Liberation Officer candidate because I believe that all students should feel secure, empowered, and Supported while attending university.  I'm determined to make our school a welcoming, inclusive environment where no one is left behind.

Because of my experience as a General monitor in my degree college, I am committed to enhancing mental health support, combating discrimination, and guaranteeing equitable representation for all liberation groups. I also understand the difficulties faced by students from diverse backgrounds. With my previous experience, I can easily understand student needs and requirements and can able to guide them with a proper solution or help them boost their self-esteem and their well being.

My Top Priorities

1. Assistance for Mental Health and Wellbeing

  • Shorten wait times to increase access to university counseling services.
  • Encourage campus-wide, round-the-clock mental health crisis assistance.
  • Create support groups for students who are having comparable difficulties.
  • Encourage greater understanding of mental health conditions and self-care techniques.

2. Liberation & Inclusivity

  • Make sure that the opinions of underrepresented students—LGBTQ+, disabled, BAME, women, working-class, etc.—are heard when decisions are made at the university.
  • Address discrimination by fortifying anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, anti-transphobia, and anti-ableism measures.
  • Encourage the creation of accessible campus areas and gender-neutral facilities.
  • Through cultural and awareness-raising activities, celebrate diversity.

3. Safety and Accessibility on Campus

  • Enhance campus safety by installing more security and better lighting in high-risk areas.
Encourage the creation of additional handicapped-accessible classrooms and lecture recordings.
  • Safety Training Programs: Conduct training sessions to educate the campus community about evacuation routes, safe zones, and assembly points.

What Makes Me the Best Candidate:

  • Passionate about student welfare and liberation.
  • Experienced in advocacy and campaigning.
  • Dedicated to real change, not just promises.
Leadership is not just a position, it's an Action.
