Roshan Lal for Welfare and Liberation Officer – Manifesto 2025

Hello everyone, I’m Roshan Lal, and I’m running for the position of Welfare and Liberation Officer. I believe in the power of unity in diversity and that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I am committed to nurturing a society where all individuals can coexist as equals. I hold a B.Com degree and am currently pursuing MSc in Logistics and Supply Chain Management at ARU. As a founding member of the Liberation Collective at NUS, I’ve dedicated myself to advocating for the rights of marginalised communities.

My Key Priorities:

1. Nightlife and Student Support:

● Safe and Inclusive Social Events: I will create safe, inclusive spaces for all students, ensuring that marginalised communities feel comfortable and are encouraged to enjoy stress-free, positive experiences. I will work closely with student societies to promote alcohol-free and low-alcohol events that prioritise fun, inclusivity, and relaxation.

● Safety Awareness and Training: Through seminars and campaigns, I will raise awareness on responsible drinking, safe partying, and how to identify and address harassment in social and nightclub environments, making sure that everyone feels safe

. ● Consent Education: I will collaborate with professionals and advocacy organisations to provide education on respectful relationships, clear consent, and personal boundaries, helping to create a safer campus environment for all.

● Safe Reporting Channels: I will work with the university to establish transparent, private, and easily accessible reporting channels for victims of sexual violence or harassment, ensuring that students have a safe platform to seek justice with a fair and confidential process.

2. Accessible Mental Health Support:

● Mental Health Accessibility: I will work with existing mental health services, peer well-being groups, and student societies to ensure that mental health support is easily accessible for all students.

● Mindfulness and Stress-Relief Initiatives: I will introduce workshops and initiatives focused on mindfulness, stress relief, and overall mental well-being. From yoga and meditation to art therapy, I will ensure students have access to tools that help maintain their mental balance throughout their academic journey.

3. Neurodiversity and Inclusive Learning Environments:

● Supporting Neurodivergent Students: I will advocate for an inclusive learning environment where neurodivergent students, including those with dyslexia, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder, can succeed. This includes ensuring access to specialised study materials and academic support tailored to their needs.

● Staff Training and Awareness: I will emphasise the need to train staff and professors to help them understand the unique needs of neurodivergent students, ensuring they receive the best support possible to succeed and feel part of the academic community

. I’m not just running for Welfare and Liberation Officer because I want to make a change – I’m running because I genuinely care about creating an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and heard.

If you believe in a university experience where safety, inclusivity, and support are top priorities, then I’m the candidate for you. I am here to fight for marginalised communities, to make sure everyone has a voice, and to ensure that no one has to face university life alone. With your vote, we can build a safer, more inclusive, and supportive campus for all. Vote for Roshan Lal for Welfare and Liberation Officer!
