This Is It—One Last Chance to Make It Count!
Hey ARU,
This isn’t just another campaign. This is a reality check.
I’m Rocio Perez, a final-year Health and Social Care student, but let me tell you something—I’ve never been the kind of person who sticks to just one lane. My soul constantly craves more—more knowledge, more experiences, more connections, more challenges.
That’s why alongside my studies, I’ve dove deep into IT engineering, networking, personal branding, and anything that sparks my curiosity. My LinkedIn journey has been a game-changer, connecting me with people who have completely shifted the way I see opportunities and growth. And now? I want to bring that same energy to YOU.
Let’s not just go through university. Let’s ignite something powerful.

If you're someone who loves breaking limits, pushing boundaries, and making things happen, I think we’re going to get along just fine.
The Reality of University—We All Feel It
I’m in my final year—so trust me when I say, I get it.
The assignments, the deadlines, the endless balancing act between uni, work, personal life, and the million other things pulling us in every direction. And now, as the countdown to graduation begins, I find myself asking:
Did I make every second count?
Not just academically—but in the ways that actually matter.
Did I meet all the incredible people I could have?
Did I do enough of the things that made me feel alive, not just productive?
Did I see activities as a burden, instead of opportunities to create something unforgettable?
I loved volunteering at ARU. I loved helping people find their place, their passion, their voice. But looking back, I realize so many of us (including me) let moments slip by—because of social anxiety, because of stress, because “we’ll do it later” when later never comes.
And that’s why I’m here.
Because this doesn’t have to be just another year.
This doesn’t have to be just another campaign.
This can be the moment we take back our time and actually live it.
The Struggles Are Real—Let’s Face Them Together
Not everyone gets the “perfect university experience.”
Some of us are drowning in responsibilities—juggling work, childcare, commuting, or just trying to stay afloat.
Some of us are dealing with neurodiversity, social anxiety, mental health battles, or just feeling like we don’t belong.
Some of us live in the chaos of London, rushing from one thing to the next, barely breathing between classes and work.
And some of us just never figured out how to break into the social side of uni—because let’s be honest, it’s not always easy.
I see you.
I hear you.
And I want to change things for you.
What If University Was Designed For All of Us?
If you believe in the same things I do, this isn't just about me—it’s about all of us.
- THE OPPORTUNITY NETWORK – Because no one should graduate feeling like they missed their shot. Real-world mentors, LinkedIn personal branding, and industry events to set you up for life.
- THE “WHAT IF?” PROJECT LAB – Ever had an idea but never acted on it? A business? A research project? A wild creative plan? Let’s help students access funding, support, and the people who can make it happen.
- LOW-PRESSURE, HIGH-IMPACT SOCIALS – Not every event should feel like a “big social effort.” Let's introduce silent study groups, “introvert-friendly” meetups, and activities for people who struggle with social anxiety.
- STUDENT LIFE, NOT JUST NIGHTLIFE – Not everyone is into clubbing, and that’s okay! Let's push for fun, meaningful, and unexpected events—escape rooms, debate nights, creativity challenges, comedy gigs, cultural festivals, and more.
- A CAMPUS THAT SUPPORTS REAL LIFE – More spaces for parents. More childcare support. More understanding of mature students. More recognition that “student life” isn’t just about 18-year-olds fresh out of high school.
The Future is Ours—But Only If We Live It.
I don’t want anyone else to get to their final year and wonder if they truly lived their university experience.
I don’t want ARU to be just a place where we studied. I want it to be the place where we made friendships, found mentors, created something, and actually felt like we belonged.
We are the next generation of thinkers, creators, and change-makers. But first, let’s make sure we don’t just get through university. Let’s experience it fully, without regrets.
If this hits home for you, let’s make it happen—together.
Vote not just for me, but for ideas that truly reflect you.
Because this isn’t just about a campaign—it’s about all of us.

Did You Know? (The Research That Proves This Matters)
· Loneliness kills—literally. Studies show that lacking social connection increases the risk of early death by 26% (Holt-Lunstad et al., 2015).
· Your brain needs downtime. Research shows that unstructured free time boosts creativity, problem-solving, and emotional well-being (Preston & Stokes, 2023).
· Networking isn’t just for professionals—it’s survival. 85% of jobs are filled through networking (Adler, 2024).
· Mental health struggles are rising. In London alone, 39% of university students report symptoms of anxiety or depression (NHS Digital, 2024).
· Commuting steals joy. Studies show that long commutes can cause higher stress levels, lower life satisfaction, and reduced academic performance (Weinstein & Stone, 2022).
Let’s build something together that actually fixes these problems—not just talks about them.
Let’s make every second of this year count.
No Borders, Just One ARU Family
At ARU, we come from every corner of the world, speaking hundreds of languages, bringing our cultures, our dreams, and our struggles into this space. We all have different stories, but we are here, together.
- Arabic: "من جد وجد، ومن زرع حصد." (Whoever works hard will find success; whoever sows will reap.)
- Chinese: "千里之行,始于足下。" (A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.)
- Spanish: "Caminante, no hay camino, se hace camino al andar." (Traveler, there is no path, the path is made by walking.)
- Portuguese: "A união faz a força." (Unity makes strength.)
- Yoruba (Nigeria): "Ibi tí a bá fọ́jú sí, là ń gbé." (Where we set our sights, we will reach.)
- Zulu (South Africa): "Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu." (A person is a person because of others.)
No matter what language we speak, we all share one dream: a university experience where everyone belongs.
Vote not just for a name, but for a future where every ARU student feels at home.
