Hi, I am Arya Shaji currently pursuing MSc International business at Anglia Ruskin University Cambridge. I am standing for the position of vice president for the faculty of Arts Humanities and Social Science. Thinking outside the box is a part of my personality. As a business student with the right mindset and motivation I have what it takes to provide AHS with the voice that will stand up for the rights of my fellow students.
We live in a world of black and white, but the discipline of arts is a delicate shade of grey and balance is key. I believe my personality brings in the emotive aspect while my course helps me deal with the practicality required.

• I want to design a memorable and wonderful experience for everyone and build a stronger creative community by conducting cross-course events to compete and showcase our talents. From comedy to poetry, jazz to film, creative writing to open mic nights, the possibilities are endless.
• The University has provided with an excellent team at i-Centre for students to collect their documents and access help but I would like to acknowledge the struggles of students who live far from the campus, owing to the accommodation shortage in Cambridge and can't commute regularly, or students who may shy away or be uncomfortable asking questions due to English not being their first language and collaborate with other faculties to develop a chat system where students can get immediate responses to our questions and queries regarding anything from finding a lecture hall to technical assistance specifically during university hours. This can help us save our students the time spent in the long queue at i-Centre and ease the burden on our respected faculty.
• Speaking of collaboration, through my personal observation, I feel there is an invisible communication gap between students and faculty. Collaboration with all departments and representatives within the university and student union can consecutively help bridge this gap and be a positive change.
• ARU provides us with boundless facilities and opportunities due to which we have a huge influx of students. One of the key factors is the student life offered by ARU. My plan is to enhance it further by using the infinite resources and contacts of the union while maintaining the dignity of the university and adhering to the rules and bylaws of the university irrespective of the campus.

I am proud to say that our student union has been doing an amazing job and carrying the torch high and bright. I promise to continue the flame with the same enthusiasm and plan to add my own fire to it as well. Like Henry ford so famously said coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is a success. We began with our student union, our seniors and previous reps stayed together and now we can work together towards success.
