VOTE ALEX MEAD

FOR

BUSINESS & LAW VICE PRESIDENT

Who am I?

My name is Alex Mead, and I am the current Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS) Faculty Rep. I am in my third and final year as a student on the BA (Hons) Public Service degree. I was a former Course Rep for Public Service in my second year, and I was nominated Rep of the Month in January 2018. At the SU Awards 2018, I was awarded the Rep Honours Award for outstanding contribution to the student community.

Why vote for me?

My role as the AHSS Faculty Rep has enabled me to collaborate and support the work of the current officers from all faculties, as well as influencing and voting on important polices to improve the student experience. Such collaboration and support have provided me with the skills to enhance the student experience at our university. In addition, my former role as Course Rep of Public Service is another important reason why I am standing for the Vice President position, because the public service industry is heavily influential to business and law making. Despite all of this, I still believe that the student experience across Business & Law and the entire university can be improved. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be elected as one of your new vice presidents.

What policies am I promising?

·      The implementation of a student reimbursement policy. This would include compensation to students in the event of cancelled lectures, last-minute timetable changes, and changes or cancelations to university events and trips.

·      Improved food variety in canteens. This would include the addition of more vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.

·      The supply of free sanitary products, such as menstrual pads and tampons in all toliets across all campuses.

·      Consolidating links with local businesses in Cambridge, Chemlsford, and surrounding areas. This would increase the number of potential placements, internships, graduate opportunities, and employment prospects.
