As the women’s’ rep of Anglia Ruskin University I will support and represent all women students, inclusive to all that self-identify as women and feel they experience structural misogyny. I, with the help of the SU, will work towards eradicating all forms of discrimination and oppression women are faced with at this university. Hopefully on a cultural and social level as well as the institutional one. My most important aim is to make the university a happier, safer and more inclusively welcoming place for every student. Through involvement with the students we can support each other together an enable change throughout the university. I aim to raise the awareness of sexual health services that are available through the university and other organisations. Along with breast cancer and cervical cancer awareness. I aim to help students become more aware of safety procedures and helplines for issues such as sexual harassment, domestic violent relationships and others. The NUS statistics state that 1/7 women in universities are subject to serious sexual assault or violence while studying at university. International Women’s day is on March 8th, and I intend to organise a week of activities, debates, panel discussions and taster sessions, working with students and staff, that celebrate Women's lives, work and passions.
