A Bit About Me

Hey everyone,  my name  is Angela, a second year BSc adult nursing student. I would love to be your Women's  Rep. I am  quite  outgoing person, who love to work with different people from different backgrounds and I enjoy working as a team. I enjoy encouraging and empowering women to  believe  in themselves no matter how much society may look down on them.

Past Experience

I believe I will be the best candidate  for this position because  of my past experience as a senior  member  of staff as a Healthcare  worker,  with passion and commitment to fulfil the role to the best my ability.  My ideas for the role is as follows:

My Aim/Why Vote for Me

I believe everybody should  have  equal opportunity and protection  regardless of their gender. I believe working together with the student union we can make the university a safe and welcoming environment for all women.

I believe women need to be empowered, encouraged and supported  in their  academic  work and also to build up their self-confidence. This will help female students to achieve better academic results and also compare them to meet the demands of their society or work place  when they complete their studies. Research has shown that 1/7 women  in universities are subjected  to serious sexual assaults/ harassment  while studying at university (NUS, 2010). My aim is to ensure that  processes for reporting these incidents will be more accessible , as well  as ensuring systems are  strengthened to support student.  I believe organizing campaigns to speak against sexual harassment will also help reduce sexual harassment in the campus.
