First Aid - Chelmsford
What is the First Aid Society?
Like many at different Universities across the country, the aim of First Aid Societies are to spread awareness about first aid, and here at ARU – Chelmsford we are no different.
Our main aim is to provide students across all courses here at ARU – Chelmsford, access to first aid training, talks and socials. Some examples of what you’ll learn include CPR, how and when to use an EpiPen, illnesses to look out for and how to treat yourself and how to control to bleeds, big or small.
Regardless of the course you are studying, whether it be Nursing, Law or Architecture, Undergrad or Postgrad, we encourage everyone to join. Membership is £3.60 for the year which gives you access to socials (coffee morning, movie nights and society outings), talks, training, and more.
We are also officially affiliated with St John Ambulance which will provide access to the organisation, professional training and the opportunity to become a first aider at events with them. However, involvement with them is not mandatory on the individual membership basis so if this doesn't interest you, you can still join and not worry about it.
Plan For This Year
Talks
We hope to have a range of talks from different organisations and Medical Clinicians/Practitioners.
Ones we are hoping to set up this year include St John Ambulance, HEMS, BASICS, the SOS bus and more. Any suggestions are more than welcome and just send us a message via our email or Instagram page.
Fundraising
This year we hope to raise enough money to install a control the bleed kit in Chelmsford high street. Whilst not needed often, when it is needed, could save a life.
