Some of these we have been watching as an SU Team to help educate ourselves about the experiences of those who have a learning difference or are living with a disability. “How can I get involved?”

National Union of Students (NUS): The NUS Disabled student campaigners network is here to support, organise and facilitate conversations on issues affecting disabled students at a local, national and international level.

 

The Hardest Hit Campaign: Organised jointly by the Disability Benefits Consortium (DBC) and the UK Disabled People’s Council, brings together individuals and organisations to send a clear message to the Government: stop these cuts now.
 

Scope: Scope campaigns relentlessly to create a fairer society for disabled people and their families.
 

Students' Union ReciteMe Toolbar: We have invested in a website tool bar which can alter the text and layout of our webpages in many different ways to help any student with a disability which might make this more difficult. We would love to have your feedback on this!

ARU London Disabled Students' Support

The Disability and Inclusion Team offers information, advice and practical guidance during your studies. Support is available for students who have mental health difficulties, on-going medical conditions and specific learning difficulties. 

 

ARU London Students' Union Advice Service

 

The Students' Union offers free, confidential and impartial advice to all ARU London students. If you have a disability and you are unsure of where to go for some support, book an appointment with our Adviser who will be able to help you on your journey.

Stella Young is a comedian and journalist who happens to go about her day in a wheelchair — a fact that doesn't, she'd like to make clear, automatically turn her into a noble inspiration to all humanity. In this very funny talk, Young breaks down society's habit of turning disabled people into "inspiration porn."

 

The Perfect Imperfections Project

Created by Laura Jane Dale, who after suffering with anxiety and self-image issues, decided to make an empowering move and launch this incredible collection of images of people embracing their body just as it is.
