Everyone comes to yoga for different reasons. Some come for the time-out and relaxation, but the practice is excellent for developing and relaxing muscles and so is exceptionally beneficial for sportspeople too. If you'd like to see what it's like or give it a try, ARU is a great place to start - you'll be surprised at what you can do.
Our yoga instructor, Yasemin, runs (mainly) Hatha Yoga classes for a range of abilities. The classes begin and end with 5 minutes of relaxation time, although the content varies. The classes are as challenging as you're willing to work towards - from a gentle stretch to a good workout. All of the equipment is provided, such as yoga mats, although you're welcome to bring your own. Don't forget a warm top to wear for the cool down at the end, it can get chilly. And bringing some water with you is always a good idea!
Beyond its reputation for promoting a mind-body-spirit balance, we, as students, also find it a fun way to meet new people from across the university.

At the SU office - go to the reception and tell which sessions you wish to attend. You can pay with Books+, cash, or cards.
* We will get a list from the SU who bought a ticket, but we strongly recommend you to keep proof of your purchase.
* We apologise that, due to the insurance issue, we are unable to offer classes to non-members.
IMPORTANT INFO for ARU staff members, ARU alumni, CRIC/Foundation year students, non-ARU university students:
We apologise that, due to the insurance issue and the university policy, the standard membership is only for current ARU students (undergrads/masters/PhD). If you wish to join the society, you will need to apply for the associate membership to get access to the sessions we offer. Please contact the committee members by email to confirm availability of the associate member positions before applying.
We look forward to seeing you in class and feel free to message any of us if you have any questions :)
