The Students’ Union is the collective voice of all the students of Anglia Ruskin University. The SU represents our student with vigour at all senior university meetings, to ensure that Anglia Ruskin puts our students at the forefront of all its decisions.

The Students’ Union is run by team of five, annually elected, full-time Sabbatical Officers. These officers are joined by a group of full-time professionals, employed for their expertise in the number of different areas that the SU are involved in.

Anglia Ruskin Students’ Union run a free, fully independent and impartial advice centre that should be the first port of call for any student who encounters a problem while at Anglia Ruskin.  It is also the job of the SU to look after all the societies and sports clubs that run throughout the academic year. The Union has its own bar and entertainment facilities where our students can take advantage of the low prices and great entertainment on offer.

This website is the best place to get any information on how the SU is run. It also has the contact details for all our officers and staff. It is the first place where entertainment listings are published and any news about the comings and goings at Anglia Ruskin University will be exclusive to this site.

    Hi Louise,

If you are a registered student at Anglia Ruskin, whether you study full-time, part-time or at a distance, you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union.

This means you can take advantage of everything the Union has to offer, including student representation and campaigns!

    Thanks,
    Lisa

    Hi,

When we were all yelling about the bar last year, why wasn’t the SU objecting more strongly to the Uni demolishing half of the campus?

I don’t mean to be nasty, but have you guys got a clue what we students actually care about?

    Rob,

Thank you for your comment. I would like to first say that the Union have been in discussion with the University regarding the re-development for the beginning, ensuring that the University are putting students first wherever possible.

The Sabbatical and Part-time Officers have been out and about the campus talking to students about their concerns and issues surrounding the re-development. This is then fed back to the vice-chancellor and other senior managers of the Estates and Facilities department for them to act upon.

I understand that the redevelopment is not ideal. Believe me, I do not enjoy working next to a very loud jackhammer going off all the time, but I strongly believe that the redevelopment will give our students the much needed facilities that they have been crying out for. I’m not sure if you have seen the facilities that are being built, but when completed they will offer fantastic teaching zones that will be significantly better than currently offered. You can visit http://www.anglia.ac.uk/newspaces for more information on the re-development.

We are constantly lobbying the University to consider students first in every decision made within the building project, and have been doing so since the planning stages.

I recently raised concerns about how the loud percussive noise of the piling (laying the foundations of the building that will be taking place from now until January) would affect student examinations, revision and assessments greatly. Because of the Union highlighting these issues that had been brought forward by students the University are now using quieter, soft piling and have moved all examinations to the other side of campus.

I hope this has cleared some issues up for you and if you have any other queries please do write back.

    Kind regards,

    Matt East

    President

Does University Center Peterborough have any kind of on site union that arranges anything yet? I’ve not heard of any events since starting in September, I guess we’re a bit new though! Thought I would ask in case I just haven’t been told.
